Skegness Clock Tower

Pest Lincs recently acquired approval for Feral Pigeon management to be carried out through Skegness Clock Tower.

Upon assessment, Feral Pigeons had accessed the clock tower via a broken window on the 3rd floor, leaving a heavy build-up of carcasses, droppings (guano), and nesting materials, throughout all 5 floors of the tower, preventing maintenance works proceeding.

Under the DEFRA GL42, all live Pigeons were removed from inside the tower, and the access window temporarily proofed to prevent further ingress.

We commenced by sanitising all areas of the tower, to reduce the transmission of varying diseases carried by Feral Pigeons, before guano and carcass removal took place.
We proceeded to remove all droppings, carcasses, eggshells, nesting materials, disused / old light bulbs and fittings, brick dust, and rubbish left by previous contractors, this was then disposed of by our licenced waste disposal contractor.

All window ledges, ladder rungs, and flooring of the tower, were cleaned to an industrial standard.
A final environmental clean, including the use of liquid biocide was put in place throughout the tower, in order to clear any remaining pathogens, leaving a safe working environment for future visitors and tradespersons.
